It’s been a while since I’ve done an artist spotlight – don’t get me wrong, I’m addicted to Instagram and
I follow so many talented creatives! One of those artists is babe-a-licious Charmaine Olivia.
A lot of her works are done with paint and I’m sure by looking at her painting below, you would agree that
the colours are just absolutely divine! I love how each piece has this perfect mixture of realism and artistic impression. You can see more of her illustrations at her website, Instagram, Tumblr or Facebook.
I’m jelly, not only are her paintings out of this world, she’s also super gorgeous!

For this illustration, I really wanted to challenge myself and draw a full body model. I’ve been doing so many illustration focused solely on faces that I’m not getting enough practice on the anatomy of the whole body! I thought I would create a pretty but surreal scene with giant flowers as the background but then for some reason I had a change of thought. I thought, wouldn’t it be awesome to draw funghi and have more of an enchanted, magical woodland-like environment for her. She could sit on a giant toadstool!
The resulting piece is below, I had fun with the colours, they’re still muted and soft but I feel that the palette is more diverse than usual! I named her Selena which is apparently the moon goddess in Greek mythology, I think this suits her, what do you think?
